From the 2023 Architectural Portfolio: Binghamton University Science II Renovation

March 25, 2024
The project was recognized as an outstanding design in the Postsecondary Schools category.

The hollow metal, single-glazed window system of Science II at Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York, was removed, and a rain screen system with punched openings of thermally broken energy-efficient windows was installed. The renovated interior considers future use of the space and opportunities for program changes. Building systems were upgraded for energy efficiency. The exhaust system was redesigned from an individualized exhaust system to a central heat recovery exhaust system. LED lighting with daylighting controls was installed throughout the building.
