A 15-year-old high school student was shot to death Tuesday morning as he walked to his Orlando, Fla., school.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Alejandro Vargas Martinez, who attended Boone High School, was shot at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday about a half-mile east of the school. 

Police have offered a $10,000 reward for information about the “killer or killers,” thanks to a contribution from the Florida Sheriff’s Association. Additional law enforcement officers have been added to the school’s security.

The slain teenager was described as “a great kid” who was “well-known and well-liked.” 

Authorities have not disclosed what led to the violence.
