The improvements at Greenwich Academy include a large amount of outdoor learning spaces.

Greenwich Academy, a private day school for girls in Greenwich, Conn., has completed a $64 million reconstruction project.

The Greenwich Time reports that the construction, which lasted three years, blends stone, wood and glass in a combination that connects to the surrounding landscape as well as the former William A. Rockefeller mansion, the oldest building on campus.

The project has added a large amount of outdoor learning space, aimed at fostering collaborative teaching styles and project-based learning.

The classrooms have also been refitted with lightweight and movable furniture to provide more flexibility.

The school accommodates students in preschool through 12th grade. It opened in 1827 and is the oldest girls school in Connecticut.
