St. George’s School, a private high school in Middletown, Rhode Island, has completed a $26 million renovation of its Arden-Diman-Eccles residence hall.

What's Up Newp reports that the upgrades have transformed the facility into a community hub designed to bring boarding and day students together.

The project adds a central addition beneath the school's iconic clock tower that serves as community space and provides a connection between the building’s two residential wings. The expanded core features three common areas with views of the seaside campus.

A co-ed day student lounge on the lower level is designed to bring non-boarding students more fully into residential life — an approach that addresses a growing challenge in independent schools as day student populations increase.

The 55,000-square-foot complex, which formerly housed 96 boys, has been reconfigured to serve 73 co-ed students with separate wings for each sex. New faculty apartments were also added.

St. George's was founded in 1896. The renovation is the first phase of a larger master plan revitalizing St. George’s facilities. The total project cost was $30.5 million.

The architect is Voith & Mactavish Architects.
