The San Jose Armory and the Moir Building will undergo interior renovations as part of the conversion to an educational space, reports The Mercury News. Hillbrook will enter into long-term leases on the two properties.
The Armory — a Spanish Revival structure built in 1933 — will be renovated first. A freshman class is expected to start in fall 2023 at that location. In the meantime, work will continue on the 28,000-square-foot Moir Building.
Hillbrook, which was founded in 1935 as The Children’s Country School, expects to eventually have 260 to 300 high school students. It’ll be the second high school in downtown San Jose, joining Notre Dame, an all-girls Catholic school founded in 1851.
