The project will mark the most significant work at the high school since a renovation to the science wing in the early to mid-1990s, reports The Amherst New Era-Progress.
The plans call for building an auditorium, renovating the existing cafeteria and food court, converting existing dining spaces into career and technical education areas, and adding a fieldhouse next to baseball and softball fields.
The new auditorium will be located in the rear of the school adjacent to the school's two gymnasiums and a new hallway will connect the auditorium to the gyms.
The district will use $8 million of its federal Covid relief funding to help pay for the improvements.
