Florida Today reports that the 138,000-square-foot campus is being built down the road from Viera High School.
Area parents began pushing the district for a middle school 15 years ago.
Viera’s population has grown from 19,193 residents in 2010 to more than 30,250.
The construction is estimated to cost $52 million to $55 million. It will be funded mainly through educational impact fees, according to the school board.
The middle school campus will house a main building, a secondary classroom building, a gymnasium building and a retention pond that will interconnect with the pond at Viera High, records show.
