University of California San Diego breaks ground on 580,500-square-foot residence hall

Pepper Canyon West Living and Learning Neighborhood will provide about 1,300 single-occupancy rooms for upper-division undergraduate students.

The University of California San Diego has broken ground on a residence hall that will provide living space for more than 1,300 students.

The Pepper Canyon West Living and Learning Neighborhood will have two 22- and 23-story towers connected to five-story buildings, reports KFMB-TV.

The 580,500-square-foot residential development will provide more than 1,300 single-occupancy rooms for upper-division undergraduate students.

It also will have outdoor terrace seating along with retail, dining, and open spaces in two large courtyards.

The housing is being built in the interior of campus, adjacent to the Central Campus station of the UC San Diego Blue Line trolley extension.

The residence hall is expected to be completed in fall 2024. 

The architects is Perkins&Will.
