The three-story home for Pineywoods Community Academy's high school will be across the street from the existing campus.

Pineywoods Community Academy, a pre-k through 12th grade charter school in Lufkin, Texas., has begun work on converting a former office building into a high school.

The three-story building, that will become the high school, is across the street from the existing campus. It will include 20 classrooms, three science labs and a cafeteria.

The charter school has been using buildings at Angelina College and the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas, to accommodate its growing student enrollment.

The initial plans were to build a high school on 64 acres that had been purchased in 2019.  Plans soon changed when the office building became available.

In addition to renovating the building and removing portable classrooms, Pineywoods is constructing a gymnasium and athletic complex on the 64 acres it purchased in 2019.

The renovation is scheduled to be complete in 2022.

Design Build Teams designed the facility and Timberline Construction is the contractor.
