The Sandusky (Ohio) school district is building a facility for its early childhood education program.

The Sandusky Early Learning Academy will be housed at the former Hancock Elementary School site and will serve students in preschool and kindergarten. The project is expected to be complete in 2022, the Sandusky Register reports.

Funding for the construction comes from a $72 million bond issues that voters approved in November 2016.

Along with the learning academy, the district is also renovating its swimming pool.

The Sandusky Aquatic Center will have a shallow, four-lane, 25-yard pool for teaching and community activities. A second pool would be an eight-lane, 25-yard pool for competitions, recreational and educational use.

Construction is expected to finish in 2023.
