The Columbus (Ohio) district has unveiled a Facilities Master Plan that calls for construction of several schools.

Five new schools would be built by 2027 if the board approves the plan and voters approve a bond request, reports WSYX News

Under the plan the district hopes to construct:

  • A 1,600-student high school at the site of the existing Marion-Franklin High School and the former Beery Middle School.
  • A 2,000-student high school at the site of the existing Beechcroft High School.
  • A 1,000-student middle school at the site of the existing Mifflin Middle School.
  • Two 600-student elementary schools at the sites of Winterset and Eakin elementary schools.

The board would need to approve the plan and place a bond proposal on the November 2022 ballot.

If the bond is approved, construction would begin in 2024.

The first of the new schools could open as soon as 2025.

The facilities plan was put together by Legat Architects.
