Ohio district breaks ground on K-6 elementary

April 13, 2021
Finneytown Elementary will replace 2 existing elementary schools in the Finneytown district.

The Finneytown (Ohio) district has held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new school that will be named Finneytown Elementary.

The district says that Finneytown Elementary will serve K-6 students and is scheduled to open for the 2022-2023 school year.

The new facility will replace Brent Elementary, a K-1 building, and Whitaker Elementary, which houses grades 2 to 5.

Voters approved a $27.9 million bond proposal in 2019 that will cover the local cost of the building the elementary school and a secondary school for grades 7-12.

The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission is contributing about $27 million to the construction projects.

The district is building Finneytown Elementary  on the existing Brent Elementary site; the 7-12 building will be erected on the existing secondary campus.

The architects are Emersion Design and Fanning Howey, and the builder is Skanska.
