Springfield (Ill.) district looks at plan to consolidate three elementary schools
The Springfield (Ill.) district is looking at constructing an elementary school.
The new building would take the place of three existing elementary schools, reports The State Journal-Register.
Once a new facility is completed, the district would close Hazel Dell, Laketown and Southern View elementary schools.
Funding for the building project will come from the 1% sales tax that Sangamon County voters approved in November 2018. The tax revenue must be spent on facility upgrades, construction, safety improvements or retirement of building bonds.
