Guy was recognized as the 2020 Campus Safety Director of the Year for his work at Littleton Public Schools. Guy is also the recipient of many other national and security industry awards and recognitions. Guy is a regular speaker at school safety trade conferences and a regular security media commentator for various trade magazines and media. Gary L Sigrist Jr | Training Officer
Gary L. Sigrist, Jr was an educator and administrator for the South-Western City School District (SWCSD) for 30 years. Gary coordinated efforts between SWCSD and federal, state, and local agencies, and worked with district and building safety teams to refine and implement safety plans. He secured almost $1M in funding and resources through federal and state grants for SWCSD to enhance safety, security and crisis management programs, as well as implementing the district’s visitor ID system and developing its Continuity of Operations/Disaster Recovery Plan and Food Defense Plan.Gary is a police officer with more than 30 years of experience working with schools and communities throughout Ohio. Rod Ellis
Chief of Police & School Safety (RET)Glynn County School Police

Rod Ellis served as the Chief of Police and School Safety Coordinator for a K12 public school district in the State of Georgia for 15 years, retiring in October 2023. He is a 36-year law enforcement veteran who began his career with the Glynn County Police in 1987. He then served with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division for 17 years, as well as a part-time and reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office. He came to the Glynn County School Police in 2008 where he was promoted to Chief in 2010 and still served in that role.

Chief Ellis was chosen for a fellowship by Georgia State University’s Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange program in 2013 and traveled to the State of Israel to train with the Israeli police and security services for 3 weeks. There, he received advanced training in understanding terrorism; counter-terrorism techniques; behavioral threat assessment; as well as pattern matching and recognition of pre-attack behaviors. He frequently consults on school safety planning at the state and national level with numerous K12 school districts in the U.S., including the Orange County Florida Schools, as well as the Broward County Florida Schools following the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Chief Ellis has presented human threat assessment training, school safety analysis training and surviving active shooter events for the Georgia Emergency Management, the Homeland Security Agency via the Georgia School Safety Conference; the Virginia and Georgia Departments of Education along with other professional staff in campus, governmental, private and faith-based settings.

Chief Ellis has written articles on school safety and threat analysis for publications such as; Campus Safety Magazine. Additionally, he was a contributor to the book; “Staying Alive” by Michael Dorn and a contributing author of the textbook; “Extreme Violence”. Rod has served since 2014 as an adjunct analyst for Safe Havens International, the world’s largest non-profit school safety center. During this time, he has assessed and analyzed over 125 public and independent K12 schools in 8 states, writing detailed reports on findings to provide schools with options on how to improve their levels of safety. He has also advised several houses of worship on ways to enhance the safety of their congregations.

Paul is a senior staff consultant having joined SRMC upon his retirement as the Chief of The Ohio State University Police Division.  He was appointed Chief after serving 28 years with the Columbus Division of Police (CPD).  He completed his career with CPD at the rank of Commander.  He maintains his Ohio Peace Officer certification as a Special Deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office where he regularly volunteers at community events.

As Chief at OSU, he reorganized the Division, launching a crime analysis and problem-oriented approach to addressing campus crime issues.  The agency was accepted by the Commission on the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) for entry to the accreditation process and received its accreditation.  Chief Denton successfully directed public safety operations for major campus events such as football games, political campaign appearances, and other dignitary visits.  He also worked as a member of the exercise design team and an evaluator for tabletop, functional and full-scale emergency exercises on local and country-wide levels.
