Memphis, Tenn., student wounded in school shooting

Memphis Police have apprehended the alleged shooter, who is a student at the same school as the victim.

A 13-year-old boy who attends Cummings K-8 Optional School in Memphis, Tenn., is in custody after allegedly shooting a 13-year-old classmate.

Memphis Police said the shooting was transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital Thursday in critical condition, reports News Channel 3

Police said the suspected shooter is also a student who attends the Cummings school. 

The shooter fled in a vehicle, but was taken into police custody after a search.

Authorities said Friday that the victim of the shooting is expected to make a full recovery. He was shot in the right abdomen. 

The alleged shooter is expected to face an attempted murder charge.
