Student wounded in Maryland high school shooting

A student was shot and wounded Monday inside Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland, and the alleged shooter is in custody, police say.

WJLA-TV reports that the victim was shot in the abdomen and taken to a hospital. Police did not disclose the student's identity or provide a condition, but said the victim's vital signs were stable.

A suspect, also a student, was quickly identified and arrested a short time later near the school. No name or age has been disclosed.

Montgomery County Public Schools placed the campus on lockdown Monday afternoon.
