University of Utah launches solar panel program

The University of Utah is launching a solar program that will allow the school to offer discounted rooftop photovoltaic panels and installation to students and other members of the university community.

The University of Utah is launching a solar program that will allow the school to offer discounted rooftop photovoltaic panels and installation to students and other members of the university community.

The University has pre-screened installers and has arranged for substantial discounts of “approximately 25% off of the price for a typical installation,” according to the school’s U Community Solar website.

In addition to the discount, users are eligible for a 30% tax credit on equipment and installation with no limit. Both existing homes and new construction, as well as both principal and second homes qualify for the program.
