A 3-year-old boy was struck and killed Monday afternoon. by a school bus in Cary, Ill.
The boy was playing outside his home and wandered into the street where he was struck by the school bus, reports WGN-TV.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was one student on the bus in addition to the driver. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The Daily Herald reports that the bus driver involved in the crash was placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation, according to a joint statement Tuesday from Crystal Lake Elementary School District 47 and Crystal Lake-based Community High School District 155, which share transportation services.
