Cincinnati district is falling short on goals for minority contracts

Sept. 28, 2009
School system had wanted to award up to a quarter of its construction business to minority-owned companies

From The Cincinnati Enquirer: With 27 schools rebuilt and 24 under construction or on the drawing board, Cincinnati Public Schools is nearing the final stages of its massive, 10-year construction project. Yet many of its goals for including minorities and women in the $1 billion enterprise that began in 2002 remain unmet. The district's goal was to award 20 to 25 percent of its business to minority-owned business; so far, 11.76 percent of the contracts have gone to minority-owned companies.
