WHEDco Bard Academy Charter School planned for the South Bronx

From The New York Daily News: A nonprofit organization is planning a 355,000-square-foot complex in New York City that will combine low-income housing and a charter school. The WHEDco Bard Academy Charter School is slated to open in September 2013 in the South Bronx. WHEDco – Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corp. – is partnering with Bard College to offer a rigorous liberal arts program with an emphasis on the arts. The project will include 290 units of low-income housing.
