New York City is building a 3,066-seat high school in the Woodside neighborhood of Queens.
North Boulevard High School will be six stories tall and contain 94 regular classrooms, six resource rooms, a library, a 550-seat auditorium, a full kitchen complex with two student dining areas, and a gymnasium with bleachers and locker rooms, reports Astoriapost.com.
The new facility aims to fulfill the school system's goal of adding nearly 6,200 new high school seats in Queens by 2026.
The building will house three high schools, including a program for students with special needs, reports QNS.com.
The facility will have six art classrooms; three music rooms; six science labs; six science demo rooms; six science prep rooms; three exercise rooms; a guidance suite; medical suite; two administrative suits; two parent/community offices; two staff lunch areas; bicycle storage; and an outdoor play yard with basketball and handball courts.
The campus is expected to open in 2025.
The New York City School Construction Authority designed the facility and Turner Construction is the contractor.
