Florida district pays $4.4 million for land

Manatee County plans three facilities on 146-acre site.

The Manatee County (Fla.) School Board has voted to buy 146 acres of farmland as a future schools site. The district plans to build either an elementary school or a satellite bus depot on one parcel within the site, and a middle and high school on two other parcels. The district will pay $30,000 an acre, or nearly $4.4 million, for the entire property.
