Charter group has ambitious expansion plans

Inner City Education Foundation wants to have 35 schools in South L.A. by 2016
Mike Piscal, the founder of the Inner City Education Foundation, wants to expand his charter group from 13 to 35 schools in eight years until it becomes, in effect, the second-largest district in South Los Angeles. The schools will be in some of the poorest and most crime-ridden neighborhoods in the nation. They will be in the Los Angeles Unified and the Inglewood school districts.
