School for pregnant and parenting teens in Detroit will become independent charter

Catherine Ferguson Academy, the only school in Detroit for pregnant and parenting teens and their children, will open next month as an independent charter school. The Detroit News reports that the school has undergone numerous changes, including a steep enrollment decline, since the Detroit school district severed ties with the program in June 2011.
