Pennsylvania college evacuated after threatening email received

The details of the email were not released, but school officials said it contained a “specific date and time.”

Luzerne Community College in Nanticoke, Pa., was closed for two days after someone sent a threatening email to administrators. The details of the email were not released, but school officials said it contained a “specific date and time,” and that the date and time has passed without incident, according to the Times Leader.

The administration decided to evacuate the school and sent out alerts via text messages, email, and Facebook directing students to leave buildings in an orderly fashion.

Once the buildings were empty, the school armed their alarm systems and monitored the grounds with an extensive camera system that allows the staff to see inside of all buildings on and off campus.

The incident is still under investigation, but the school reopened March 31 on a compressed schedule, according to the school’s website.
