Student at Utah Tech University falls to his death from 5th floor of residence hall

The university says the death of freshman Peyton Hall, 18, appears to be an accident.

A freshman at Utah Tech University in St. George died early Sunday morning when he fell from the fifth-floor balcony of a residence hall.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Peyton Hall, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. The university says the death appears to be accidental.

Authorities say Hall fell about 55 feet at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday from a balcony at the Campus View Suites II on-campus housing units at about 2:30 a.m Sunday.

His fall was witnessed by several other students and “appears to be an accidental death,” according to a Utah Tech news release, “although the investigation is ongoing.”
