2 students wounded in shooting outside Portland, Ore., high school

The students, who attend Jefferson High School, sustained injuries Tuesday afternoon that are not life-threatening.

A drive-by shooting near a high school in Portland, Ore., wounded two students and sent others scrambling for cover shortly after classes ended for the day.

The Portland Oregonian reports that the shooting occurred at about 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon outside the gymnasium of Jefferson High School.

The students’ injuries are not life-threatening, according to a spokeswoman for Portland Public Schools.

Police received a report that one of the injured students had suffered a wound in the leg and entered the gym shortly after the shooting. Another student was reported to have sustained a graze wound on her hand.

Police received reports that two teens wearing face masks fled the scene of the shooting in a car that crashed nearby. The occupants fled, according to police. Authorities later determined that the car had been stolen.
