KPRC-TV reports that Sophia Isabella Irehata was running to catch the bus Tuesday morning after the other children had already boarded.
Police say the driver didn’t see Sophia run in front of the bus and started driving off when the bus struck her.
According to witnesses at the scene, emergency medical personnel arrived and started life-saving procedures. The girl was transported to a local hospital, where she died about an hour later.
The girl was a student at Anderson Elementary School in the Conroe district.
