A student at a high school in Kenosha, Wis., has been seriously wounded in a stabbing, and another student has been taken into custody.
The Kenosha News reports that the incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in a classroom at Bradford High School.
The victim, a 16-year-old boy, was stabbed in the chest. According to initial reports, he was unconscious but breathing and was taken to an area hospital.
Tanya Ruder, spokeswoman for Kenosha Unified School District, says the stabbing occurred during a study hall, and other students witnessed the attack. She said the stabbing “appears to be, based on the information that we have, an isolated incident” between two students.
Ruder says the suspect was very quickly taken into custody by a school resource officer, and the alleged weapon was secured.
Bradford students were dismissed for the day at 10:30 a.m.
