Officials in the Duval County (Fla.) district are investigating after two racist signs, one reading "colored" and one reading "whites only," were posted above water fountains at First Coast High School in Jacksonville.

The Florida Times-Union reports that the images were posted on social media pages Thursday. District officials say school staff took the signs down as soon as they were reported.

Schools are closed Friday in honor of Veterans Day.

First Coast High has had struggles in recent years with parents and students unhappy with some events at the school, including social media postings showing students fighting, shouting and walking in and out of classrooms.
