Florida Southern College's Polk Museum of the Art in Lakeland will undergo a $6 million renovation

The project will add 10,000 square feet of gallery, classroom and laboratory spaces.

Florida Southern College's Polk Museum of the Art is planning a $6 million expansion and renovation of the museum on the Lakeland campus. 

The expansion is expected to add 10,000 square feet of gallery, classroom and laboratory spaces, the college says in a news release. 

The project will add multifunctional exhibition and educational spaces, including galleries to feature artwork from the museum’s permanent collection.

The museum's entrance will be renovated and, flooring will be replaced throughout the first floor. The second-floor of galleries, classrooms, and office spaces also will be updated.

Construction is set to be completed by spring 2024.
