Valley Southwoods Freshman High School in West Des Moines, Iowa, is expanding with a 39,000-square-foot addition.
The addition is the first significant addition to the campus since it was built in the 1990s, reports The Des Moines Register.
The $22 million project will add career and technical education classrooms along with classrooms for culinary arts, robotics and welding.
The work also will update are the school's kitchen, create a secure vestibule for entry into the building and transition the media center into a presentation hall.
The addition is expected to be completed by August 2023.
