Music-focused school is expanding its Los Angeles campus
The Colburn School, a private music-focused school in Los Angeles, is expanding its downtown campus with a performance facility.
The 100,000-square-foot Colburn Center will feature a 1,000- seat concert hall, dance studios and a 100-seat studio theater, reports Urbanize LA.
The center will rise across the street from the existing Colburn campus.
Initial plans called for two performance venues with seating for about 1,100 and 700 patrons. That has since been scaled down to one 1,000-seat concert hall because of budget constraints.
The updated design also incorporates more open space into the project, including a roof garden above the studio theater and a landscaped area behind a gated entrance.
Construction is expected to be complete by fall 2025.
Gehry Partners is the architect.
