Las Positas College in Livermore, Calif., has begun construction on three campus buildings.
The campus is adding an academic support and office building; a facility that will house a public safety complex and advanced manufacturing and transportation programs; and an agriculture sciences/horticulture building, reports Pleasanton Weekly.
The 88,000-square-foot academic support and office building will house an English center, math center, math emporium, computer science center, computer labs, classrooms, tutoring with study areas, networking, maker space and faculty offices. It will also double as a library space.
The public safety complex and advanced manufacturing/transportation facility will house various programs, classrooms and event spaces, such as an EMS simulation lab and situation rooms, fire training, automotive tech space, welding lab, classrooms and labs.
Construction funds come from a $950 million Chabot-Las Positas Community College District bond program approved by voters in 2016.
The academic support and office building and the PSC/AMT building are both estimated to be completed by summer 2023. The agriculture sciences: horticulture project is estimated to be completed by summer 2022.
The academic support and office building was designed by LPAS Architecture & Designer and Lionakis designed the PSC and AMT building.
