North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D., is expanding Sudro Hall in order to house the entirety of the university's rapidly growing College of Health Professionals.
The university says the 74,000-square-foot, six-story addition will accommodate collaborative learning, expand the college’s research capabilities and help meet the region’s growing need for health care professionals.
“This project will bring all of the college’s disciplines under one roof," says North Dakota State President Dean L. Bresciani. "Its design will support collaborative learning strategies that help prepare students for today’s health care professions, and updated labs will empower greater discovery.”
The college consists of the School of Pharmacy, School of Nursing, Department of Allied Science, and Department of Public Health. It has an enrollment of 2,000 students and has had to lease space in three off-campus buildings top accommodate all its programs.
The North Dakota Legislature and State Board of Higher Education have authorized the university to develop the privately funded project at a cost of up to $28 million. Construction is expected to be completed in time for spring semester 2020.
Upon completion, Sudro Hall will have collaborative, interdisciplinary, and technologically advanced learning environments that simulate real-world healthcare settings and that advance a deeper understanding of and appreciation for patient-centered care.
