The Provo Daily Herald says a new Rock Canyon Elementary is being built on the city's northeast side and a new Sunset View Elementary on the southwest side. Construction of each school is projected to cost $14 million. Funding comes from a $108 million bond approved by voters in November.
Both schools are being built on the site of the buildings they are replacing. District officials expect the new facilities will be ready for the 2016-17 school year. Once construction is completed, the existing buildings will be torn down.
