Community college in California seeks to build student housing for low-income students
March 24, 2022
The three-story student housing facility at Cabrillo Community College in Aptos, Calif., would accommodate about 300 students who are financially insecure.
The three-story building, to be built on the college's soccer field, would serve about 300 students, reports KSBW News.
The student housing would include a mix of traditional residence halls and apartment-style suites with amenities that are often part of the traditional college experience such as dining halls, child care and late-night study spaces.
It would cost students about $924 per month. To qualify for Cabrillo College’s housing, students must be enrolled as full-time, or 12-semester units, and maintain a passing grade point average.
The college hopes to break ground in 2023 or 2024.
