The Shawnee Mission (Kan.) district is looking at building an addition to its high school in Prairie Village.
The proposed 7,600-square-foot addition at Shawnee Mission East High School would have two classrooms, multipurpose spaces and additional storage, reports WDAF-TV.
The addition would be built within a courtyard area between two existing wings on the northern end of the building and would open up to a fenced-in outdoor learning space featuring native plant gardens and stepped native grass terraces with concrete retaining walls.
The district is seeking support for the plan from the Prairie Village Planning Commission.
If approved by the planning commission, the project would go before the Prairie Village City Council for final approval.
