GALLERY: Green Ribbon Goes to College: The first Postsecondary Sustainability Awards

The U.S. Department of Education has been recognizing Green Ribbon Schools since 2011-12, but this year is the first to include colleges and universities for awards. Nine higher-education institutions received U.S. Department of Education Postsecondary Sustainability Awards for 2014-15.

The U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools program was established in 2011-12 to salute schools with outstanding records in adopting environmentally friendly practices, but this year is the first time the program has included colleges and universities for recognition. Nine higher-education institutions have received U.S. Department of Education Postsecondary Sustainability Awards for 2014-15.
