Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., is renovating the former South Hall building to create a modern home for the university's Lukenda School of Business.

The $13.5 million project will overhaul a building that is a former U.S. Army barracks constructed in the early 1900s. The university plans to remodel the facility in two phases--renovating the existing 32,000 square feet of space and building a 12,000-square-foot addition.

The addition will connect the building's original two wings and form an atrium that will have an interactive commons with an expanded café, new program rooms, and support space, including a securities trading lab and a Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

The building will be renamed R.W. Considine Hall in honor of the businessman and university benefactor whose donations are helping to pay for the renovation and expansion.

Construction is set to start this spring and is scheduled to be completed in May 2016
