A bus driver for the Pittsgrove Township (N.J.) School District was killed Friday in a crash involving a bus carrying children from Olivet Elementary School.
CBS Philly reports that Denise Powell, 60, of Newfield, was driving the bus. She died at an area hospital. The driver of a vehicle that crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the bus also died.
Two students with non-life-threatening injuries were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police say the crash happened on County Road 540 around 4 p.m.
A Nissan SUV and a Volkswagen sedan were driving westbound as the bus, which was carrying 19 students, went east. The Nissan crossed the center lines and hit the bus. Both vehicles came back into the westbound lanes and hit the Volkswagen.
All three vehicles went off the right side of the road.
