7-year-old boy killed in New Jersey school bus accident

A 7-year-old boy died Friday afternoon after being struck by a school bus in Gibbstown, New Jersey.

The Sun Newspapers report tht Greenwich Township police responded to the scene of a crash involving a juvenile and a school bus. The boy was transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police have not officially identified the child, but his grandmother, Joan Dillon, identified him on a GoFundMe campaign as Hunter Smith.

Authorities say the child was getting off the bus when he was struck. 

Greenwich Township School Superintendent Ryan Hudson addressed the community in a Facebook post on Saturday: “I want to start by expressing my sincere and deepest condolences to the family affected by the tragedy of yesterday.”

On Monday, both district schools had mental health professionals and therapy dogs available for staff and students.
