News release: San Diego State University has begun construction of the Aztec Student Union, a new facility that will replace the 43-year-old Aztec Center. The Aztec Student Union, which is funded entirely by the students, is scheduled to open in 2013. The original Aztec Center was designed to accommodate 10,000 students in 1968, and it will be replaced by a sustainable building that will serve 30,000 students a year.
