StudentFirst Academy is housed in a former public middle school

From The Charlotte Observer: The former Wilson Middle School in Charlotte, N.C., could become a charter school if the private school that took over the building gets its way. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg district closed Wilson last year; StudentFirst Academy, a K-12 private school, took over the building. School officials want to convert the academy to a charter school, which would provide government money and eliminate tuition. Legislators recently lifted the state's 100-school cap on charters.
