Princeton's endowment lost $3.7 billion in value for year ending June 30

Loss is less than expected, but some staff layoffs will be necessary
Sept. 30, 2009

From The Times of Trenton: Princeton University's endowment value dropped about $3.7 billion over the year ended June 30, far less than the potential $5 billion loss anticipated in April because of market upheavals. However, the university is still spending endowment funds at a faster pace than it wants, and an unspecified number of layoffs will be necessary, though fewer than previously thought.
