Man had out-of-state criminal record, but Liberty Hill officials didn't find out.
Liberty Hill (Texas) school officials failed to discover the out-of-state criminal record of a janitor hired last summer who later was arrested and convicted of the attempted sexual assault of two students. The incident, along with a bill pending in the Texas Legislature, highlights the fact that some districts don't always conduct nationwide background checks on new employees, even when they come from other states.
