From The Eugene Register-Guard: Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore., has broken ground on a $15 million health and wellness building, the first new academic center on campus in 10 years. The 41,700-square-foot building will house the nursing, emergency medical technology, respiratory care, physical therapist assistant and other health-related programs. Voters last fall approved a bond issue that will provide $83 million for a variety of campus projects, including a major renovation of the existing health building. In addition to modern classrooms and lab space, the new building is designed to meet the LEED Silver rating for energy efficiency and sustainability. It will have a solar-thermal hot-water system and use thermal massing and passive ventilation. The architect is SRG Partnership.
