P.S. 207 in the Bronx is following guidelines from the New York City's Department of Education, which directed the building to close after detecting four or more cases in four separate classrooms within the last week, reports Gothamist News.
The administrators cited transmission between siblings in different classrooms as a reason for the outbreak.
It’s the fourth public school shutdown so far this school year. City officials have said that buildings will be shut down only when there was evidence of “widespread transmission.”
Students are scheduled to learn remotely until Dec. 13.
P.S. 207 serves about 400 students from pre-K through fifth grade.
