The renovation of Oakton Community College’s Des Plaines Campus Library Learning Commons reimagines the two-level interior based on the “living room effect” with a focus on comfort, functionality, and flow. The new spaces support and encourage diverse learning styles and serve as a home away from home for students.
The Learning Commons is conceived as a hub of academic activity for the entire Oakton community. The facility integrates academic support services including the campus IT Help Desk, Learning Center, Library, and TRIO Student Support within a physical environment designed to enhance collaboration.
