From the 2023 Educational Interiors Showcase: Washtenaw ISD, High Point School

Dec. 19, 2023
The project was recognized as an outstanding design in the Special Needs Interiors category.

High Point School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, serves about 70 special needs students from each of the Washtenaw Intermediate District’s nine local school systems. To support students, many design elements are unique and accessible. Oversized, automatic doors and wide corridors enable easier traffic flow. Flexible lighting can calibrate from cool to warm colors and be dimmed to adjust brightness. Spaces designed for the social-emotional needs of students have features to prevent triggers, including quiet rooms, updated acoustics, and subtle, strategic colors.
